These days Pcos/ Pcod is a common problem. Today, almost 7 out of 10 teenagers deal with it. I was diagnosed with this problem in 2014. After being informed about the side effects of medication, I decided to take things into my hand and deal with this problem naturally. This is what I did to permanently get rid of PCOS facial hair.

I just wanted to mention that these facial hair remedies work for everyone, even if you do not have PCOS.

Fortunately, I met diagnosis before symptoms. And so, the hair growth on my face was very minimal. I knew that it was a lifestyle-related problem, and the solution could have come only by making some changes in my daily routine.

Pcos facial hair removal method

My mom was against me using a razor to remove facial hair and, as the hair growth on my face was not much, I used a tweezer and epilator to remove the hair on my chin and upper lip. All I can say is that now I do not have facial hair. They have worked well for me! If your hair growth is thick, you can try threading, hard wax or laser treatment.

DIY face mask

For this you need-

  • 1 tbsp gram flour
  • 1/2 tbsp sandalwood powder
  • 1/4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 pinch of turmeric

Take a glass bowl and mix gram flour, sandalwood powder, lemon juice and turmeric in a bowl. Add water until you get the consistency of a thick paste. Apply this every day for 30 days after cleaning your face on the area where you have facial hair, and wash it off after 15 minutes.

Gram flour is the best natural cleanser. Lemon is beneficial in lightening dark spots, and turmeric and sandalwood powder have been used in ancient Indian remedies to remove hair.

Turmeric and liquorice liquid

For this you need-

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tbsp wild turmeric
  • 1/4 tbsp liquorice
  • 1 tbsp cornflour

Boil 1 cup of water in a pan for 3-4 minutes and add turmeric and liquorice to boiling water. Take a bowl and put cornflour in it. Then, add water until a slurry is formed. Add slurry to the boiling mixture and keep mixing until it gets thickened like a soup. Let this mixture cool. Then, after cleaning your face, apply it to the area where you have a facial hair problem. After 15- 20 minutes, start rubbing it in the direction opposite to the hair growth. Then, give your face a final rinse with cold water and proceed with your skincare routine. It has been a very effective natural remedy for me to remove and reduce PCOS facial hair, but you have to be consistent and apply it regularly for at least 15 days to see some change.

Wild turmeric and liquorice are effective in thinning the hair follicles. Cornflour sticks to our skin and thus, helps in removing facial hair.

Peel off mask

Using a peel-off mask at least once a week has been beneficial in keeping my facial hair at bay. You can buy it from the store or make it on your own.
I like to use this DIY recipe-

  • 1/4 tbsp liquorice powder
  • A small piece of jaggery
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp gelatin

Take 1/4 cup water in a pan and add jaggery to it. Boil the water until jaggery gets completely dissolved. In a bowl, take gelatin and liquorice powder. Add 1.5- 2 tbsp jaggery water to it.
Mix it thoroughly until gelatin gets dissolved and you get a paste-like consistency.
Apply a thick layer of this mask to your clean face. Wait till it gets dry. Then, peel it off slowly in the upward direction.

Liquorice has glycyrrhizic acid in it, which is helpful in thinning hair follicles. Jaggery is a natural source of glycolic acid that makes our skin appear even-toned and removes dead cells. Gelatin helps our skin in building more collagen.

Honey and lemon

For this you need-

  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp honey

In a bowl, mix honey and lemon juice together. Apply this paste to the area where you have facial hair. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Then, wipe it off with a wet towel. You can do this twice a week.

When mixed with lemon, honey brings moisture back into our skin. Thus, it becomes an effective facial hair remedy.

This is how I keep my skin flawless

Workout

I started working out six days a week for 45 minutes without a miss right after my diagnosis. My workout usually consists of dance cardio and pilates. I still remember my first encounter with exercising. After doing the exercise only for seven minutes, I laid on the ground for twenty minutes straight, struggling to breathe. That was the AHA moment for me as it made me realise how weak my body had become over the years.

Food

After diagnosis, my diet changed drastically. Rather than eating WHATEVER, I started to eat the foods that nourished my body and included a lot of seasonal fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds into my diet. I keep my body hydrated, drink green tea and matcha tea regularly. I do not follow any specific diet; my focus is on eating a balanced diet. I started cooking at home and completely stopped consuming processed food. Rather than using plastic containers and water bottles, I now use a copper jug or steel containers.

Meditation

I have been meditating regularly for the past seven years and, it has changed my life completely. By working on my inner issues, doing shadow work, focusing on self-love and acceptance into my life has changed for the better. I also include qi gong, breathing exercises, acupuncture, womb healing as a part of my lifestyle for better energy flow.

Feminine energy

This has been the most crucial component of my healing journey. My connection with my feminine energy, with the women who lived before me, has been magical and grounding. Our feminine energy and menstrual cycle are connected to the moon. Spending 15 minutes under the moonlight and looking at the moon is an ancient method for hormonal balance.

That’s how I started my feminine journey

Believe it or not, even though medical science says there is no cure to PCOS, after making lifestyle changes, no trace of the disease was found inside my body. My cycle is regular. I do not have PCOS facial hair or acne and, I am in the best shape of my life- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
