But now I can happily say that these period hacks have made it possible! Read further and see the impossible turn possible!
Unusual period hacks that do work-
Clothes
- I have noticed that the pain is intense when we wear tight-fitting garments.
- It restricts our womb and the free flow of blood.
- Consider choosing loose clothes made out of breathable material.
- A-line or maxi dresses are my preferences as they are very comfortable and look super cute.
- Please avoid wearing bodycon dresses, jeans, tight-fitting leggings and shapewear.

Food
- I have noticed that fried and heavy foods intensify period pain.
- Thus, avoiding hard-to-digest food items is the best thing to do.
- Include fibre-rich foods in your diet.
- Try eating more fruits, oats, boiled vegetables, porridge during your periods.
- Consume more water and other liquids like juices, soups and teas.
- Do not consume caffeinated drinks during this time.
- Make sure that you do not stay empty stomach for a long duration.
- Eat something healthy and light as soon as you wake up because staying empty stomach can cause gastric issues that will not make things any easier for you.
- Dark chocolates are best for reducing period cramps as they are rich in magnesium that relaxes muscles and eases aches.

Walking in the nature
- This is one of the most peculiar period hacks. Confusing as it might seem, walking barefoot on the grass during periods helps to get rid of period cramps.
- Our intuition gets heightened when we bleed. Thus, it helps us tune with the higher frequencies of nature.
- If you use a menstrual cup, offer your sacred period blood to the soil.
- It is a practice that I like to do to connect with the earth element.
Physical activity
- I love working out but exercising during periods is a horrible idea.
- I still remember when I did 20 minutes of HIIT during my period and regretted it for the next 4 hours.
- No matter how many fitness influencers tell you to work out during your period, it is not what your body wants.
- I decrease the intensity of my workouts a few days before my period date. It is the best period hack that reduces period cramps immensely.
- Consider doing qigong for women or yoga flow made for this time.
- What yoga and qigong do is that they create space both energetically and physically because of which our muscles relax, and blood flows freely without getting restricted.
- Listen to your body.
- If your body wants to rest, give it the same.
- You can also try some simple stretches on the bed as they are also very relaxing.

Meditation
Meditation for periods-
- Lie comfortably on the bed.
- Make sure that everything around you is cosy.
- Keep your womb warm and cover yourself in a blanket.
- Relax your body completely.
- Keep your hands relaxed beside you or in a triangle mudra on your womb.
- Mentally create space in your body.
- Feel the nerves in your womb relaxing, and the blood flowing easily and getting absorbed by the mother earth.
- Feel like the nutrition from your blood is nourishing the soil.
- Take every breath as if you are on mother earth’s belly and breathing with her.
- Feel the goddess you worship or all the sacred women shedding their blood together in a circle.
- Be in this meditative state for as long as your body needs it.
- Then open your eyes slowly.
Sunlight
- Sitting under the sunlight every day for 15-20 minutes is beneficial.
- When you sit under the sunlight during your periods, let the light and warmth of the sun touch your womb.
- The warmth from the sun will release muscle tension which is one of the main reasons for cramps.
- You can even use a hot water bottle for warmth.
- I have seen a few people keeping their phones and laptop on their wombs because of the heat produced by the devices. Please do not do this. The radiations produced by them are harmful and can even cause cancer.
Connection with the moon
- It is said that the 28 days of the moon cycle are connected with women’s monthly cycle.
- No matter what phase the moon is in, try to connect with it.
- Walk for at least 10 minutes under the moonlight.
- Look at it and try to connect with it.
- Feel the sacredness, feminine energy and the beauty of the moon within you.
Rest phase
- We, as women, go through phases during the entire month. They are follicular, ovulation, luteal and menstruation.
- Our energy levels are different during all phases.
- Menstruation is the phase during which we rest and let go.
- It is time to let go physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
- During the full-moon phase, all the archived memories of the entire month get stored in the womb.
- It is not the time to be a workaholic; it is the time to step back from all the work you are doing and turn all your energies inwards.
- So, rest as much as you can during your periods. It will help you start your next month with new creativity, joy, energy and will make your periods less painful naturally.
Emotions
- During our monthly cycle, we feel this sadness coming from within.
- It is mainly because our body prepares every month for a child, and when we do not conceive a baby, the primary emotion that comes out of us is sadness.
- Let all your mixed emotions and pains consciously come out with the blood.
- Take some time off social media and utilise this time for expressing your creativity.
- I love to make sacred geometric patterns and write a journal during this time.
Belly button oiling
- It might sound odd, but it is one of the easiest period hacks you can do.
- For belly button oiling, take 1/2 tbsp sesame oil and add 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil to it. Put 2 drops of this oil inside your belly button.
- Sesame oil will moisturise the veins, and lavender oil will promote relaxation.
