Nails are made of keratin, a fibrous protein produced by cells at the base of the nail underneath the cuticle. Like the epidermis of the skin and hair, they primarily consist of protein cells. Although trying to change the inherent growth of nails with nail-care products is a waste of time and money, there are many other ways you can opt for cute long nails.

Tips to get cute long nails

Best nail cleaning solution

Fill a bowl with lukewarm water; squeeze half a lemon into it. Add squeezed lemon, 1 tbsp baby shampoo and Epsom salt. If you do not have baby shampoo, you can use regular shampoo.

Remove the nail paint and soak your hands in a bowl for 10 minutes. Then, clean your nails using a toothbrush in a circular motion. Rub the lemon peel on your nails. You can do this once a week.

The shampoo helps in removing the dirt from the nails. Lemon contains vitamin c that helps erase discolouration; Epsom salt has a detoxifying effect.

Long nail serum

For this you need-

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Small container
  • 1 Vitamin E capsule
  • 1 Vitamin A capsule

Take olive oil in a small container, and add gel from vitamin E and vitamin A capsules. Mix the serum properly and apply it after cleaning your nails or before going to bed.

Olive oil is very hydrating and gets easily absorbed by our nails; Vitamin E is intensely moisturizing and restores dry cuticles, and vitamin A regenerates nail growth.

Nail trimming

Enjoy the length of your nails for a week or two. Then, trim the free edge of the nails completely. I can not stress enough how beneficial it is for our nails. It will help your nails grow faster and make them healthier.

Make sure you trim your nails after the shower, as it will make nail trimming and shaping more convenient.

Nail paint

You might have noticed that after removing nail paint, our nails appear yellow. Excessive use of chemicals can make that happen. Nail polish contains harmful chemicals which keep our nails from breathing. Nail paint remover contains acetone which is also responsible for nail discolouration.

Check the ingredients before purchasing your nail paint to ensure that it does not contain harmful chemicals. Use acetone-free nail paint remover. Take a break from nail polish and fake nails, and do not forget to apply a base coat before using them.

Nail strengthening oil

You are at the right stop if you want to grow your brittle nails. You need-

  • 1/2 tbsp pounded garlic
  • 1 tbsp castor oil

Mix garlic and castor oil in a bowl and massage them on your nails every night. Put your gloves on and go to bed. I am sorry I can not do anything about the smell, but this stuff works.

Castor oil strengthens our nails and makes them more flexible. Garlic is rich in selenium that promotes nail growth.

Cuticle care

The best way to keep your nails healthy and free from problems is by saying a big NO to pushing your cuticles back. The less you manipulate and cut your cuticle, the better off your nails will be. Damage from over pushing or over trimming the cuticle is the number one cause of nail problems. Removing too many cuticles can damage the nail.

The cuticle protects your nails. Anything that damages this seal puts the nail at risk. It can result in weak, brittle, ridged, dented, peeling, or unevenly growing nails which may take up to a year to resolve. Cuticle tools can cause damage to the nail if not used carefully.

Stop manipulating, pushing, or over trimming your cuticles. It is the simplest thing you can do to get cute long nails. Trim excess skin around the nail minimally. Do not overmanipulate the cuticle in any manner. Within a short period, you will see a radical change in the growth of the nail.

Moisturize the cuticle as often as possible. Also, do not forget to use sunscreen.

Food for nails

Foods that nourish the hands and nails include beans, organic eggs, yoghurt and seafood. To get healthy nails from the inside out, drink horsetail tea. It is rich in mineral silica.

If the nails are very brittle, include three tablespoons of ground flaxseeds or one tablespoon fresh-pressed flaxseed oil in your regime daily.

To nourish the nails from the inside, eat more oats and include seafood in your diet.

Include dry fruits in your diet as they are rich in selenium, zinc, vitamin B, and vitamin E.

Do not ignore green vegetables because they contain vitamin E, iron, vitamin B, folate, and vitamin A, which promote nail growth.

DIY nail and hand cream

Rub this on the nails, cuticles and hands. You can keep this cream for three to four months without refrigeration. For this you need-

  • 2 Tbsp. beeswax
  • 2 Tbsp. shea butter
  • 4 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. anhydrous lanolin
  • 20 drops essential oil of rosemary

Warm all the ingredients except the essential oil in a double boiler or small saucepan till you get melted wax. Remove from the heat, pour the mixture into a small glass jar and allow it to cool down without putting the lid on. Then add the essential oil, and give it a stir. Once it cools down completely, cover it.

Shea butter will heal your skin and protect it from the sun. Anhydrous lanolin prevents dryness.

These are the simple ways I opted to get cute long nails naturally. Believe me, they will work brilliantly for you as well.
