Who does not want spotless and clear skin? But, expensive skincare products often deceive us. This has happened to me as well. I had got frustrated with everything, using different products and following an elaborate skincare routine. My skin used to break out every now and then and gave me a tough time. Well, that was until I started following THIS simple and effective skin routine. Shocking as it might sound, it gifted me with clear skin in one month! Yes, just a month. Curious to know more? MAKEUP

In order to get clear skin naturally at home, I stopped wearing makeup. No foundation, concealer, bb cream or powder. Every day, we put so many harmful chemicals on our face. This blocks the pores of our skin and does not give it time to breathe. As a result, our skin breaks out.

FACE WASH

Regardless of what face wash I used, my skin felt dry. So, I shifted to this Indian way of cleaning my skin which my granny told me about. I use this every night.

All you need for this face wash-

  • 4 tbsp gram flour
  • 3 tbsp Multani mitti
  • 1 tbsp wild turmeric
  • 1/2 tbsp cinnamon

Put all the ingredients together in a container and shake it until all the powders get mixed.
Whenever you use it, take 1 tbsp in a bowl and add water to it until you get a paste-like consistency. If you have dry skin, you can use milk in place of water.
Put the paste all over your face and massage it for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then, leave it on for 4-5 minutes.
After that, wash your face.

If you wear makeup, this might not clean your skin properly as it is a mild cleanser.

Gram flour treats acne and has zinc in it to fight infections. It controls excess sebum production and calms down the skin. Wild turmeric /Kasthuri turmeric has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It protects our skin against the harmful radiations of the sun and helps in skin rejuvenation. Cinnamon has anti-fungal, anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial properties, which make it a boon for healing acne. It enhances blood circulation. Multani mitti absorbs sebum, sweat, oil and dirt from the clogged pores and makes your skin radiant by getting rid of blemishes.

STEAM

This is my favourite trick that has immensely helped me in getting clear skin in 4 weeks. I take facial steam twice or thrice a week at least.

To take facial steam-

  • Fill up a small pot with 1 cup of water. Add 1 Tbsp green tea to it and bring it to a full boil.
  • Remove your makeup and clean your face with a gentle cleanser.
  • Pour boiling water into a big glass bowl.
  • Cover your head with a towel so that it drops down on either side of your face. Trap the steam so that it concentrates near your skin.
  • Do not be very close to the steaming water- it can burn your skin.
  • Take steam for 5 minutes.
  • After that, you can apply toner and moisturiser.
  • If you want to apply a facial mask, you can do that after the steam. Post that, hydrate your skin.

Steam opens up your pores and helps loosen up any buildup of dirt for deeper cleansing. It increases circulation resulting in a healthy natural glow. It releases trapped sebum beneath your skin surface, which is a breeding ground for acne-causing bacteria.

CLAY MASK

A clay mask is a must-have if you want to get clear skin in one month. You can use any clay for the face mask ( kaolin clay, Multani mitti, bentonite clay etc.)

Application:

  • Take clay in a glass bowl.
  • Mix it with 1/4th tbsp of raw apple cider vinegar and water.
  • Stir the mixture until it is a smooth paste.
  • Apply a layer of it to the face.
  • Let it dry for 10-15 min.
  • Remove the clay mask by washing it with warm water.
  • Slight redness might appear on the skin but, that is normal.
  • Make sure you use a clay mask at least once a week.

Clay has multiple benefits and is also known for its healing properties. Clay masks help in unclogging skin pores and shrink them. They help in controlling the overproduction of sebum and drawing out the toxins from the skin. They make the skin clear and can be used for regenerating skin tissues.

FACE SCRUB

It is crucial to get rid of dead skin cells. I use this simple homemade face scrub which is very effective in getting clear skin in one month.

For this, you need:

  • 5 tbsp rice flour
  • 5 tbsp oats
  • 15-16 almonds

Put rice flour, oats and almonds in a blender and blend them until you get a powder. You can store it in a container for up to a year.
Whenever you use it, take 1 tbsp of scrub in a bowl.
Add enough water until you get a paste-like consistency.
Massage your face with this scrub for 5 minutes. Then, wash it off.
Make sure while using this scrub, you are massaging with light pressure. Do not go hard on your skin.
You can add more water during scrubbing so that your fingers can move with ease while massaging.

Rice flour contains Vitamin B, which helps in the production of new cells. It makes our skin smoother and glowy. Rice maintains and repairs the natural barrier of our skin and protects it against free radicals. Oats have anti-inflammatory properties that help in improving dry skin and roughness. It also reduces itchiness and gives a glow to the skin. Almonds have copper in them, which helps in getting rid of pigmentation. They are rich in essential fatty acids that prevent dry skin.

Replace your moisturiser

The first thing I did to get spotless skin naturally was to replace my facial creams and oils with shea butter. It really improved the texture of my skin and made my skin more even.

Shea butter helps with collagen production. It is incredibly nourishing and hydrating for our skin. It helps soften the skin, strengthen it and reduce wrinkles.
Shea butter protects our skin from sun damage and makes it glow like never before.

Gua sha

Massaging your face with gua sha has so many benefits. I give massage to my face with gua sha at least for 10 minutes after applying shea butter. Make sure that your skin is hydrated enough for gua sha to glide easily on your face. Apply low to moderate pressure while using it.

Gua Sha increases circulation and improves lymphatic drainage that makes our skin naturally dewy and improves our complexion. It helps the product penetrate deeper into our skin and makes it look plumper. It is also used for reducing inflammation and decongesting our skin.

SIMPLE ROUTINE

It seems funny now that I used to apply so many products on my face before with no significant results. My 10-11 steps skincare routine is now reduced to basic and simple steps that improved my skin a lot.

The steps are as follows:

  • Homemade cleanser at night
  • Rosewater as a toner
  • Shea butter to hydrate my skin
  • Homemade facial scrub and face mask once a week
  • Take steam 3 times a week.

It is truly a misconception that in order to have spotless and flawless skin, we need to have a complicated skincare routine or spend a lot of money. Simple changes and easy steps can really give you the results you have always wanted. We all have different skin types and textures, and your results might be different than mine. Still, do give this routine a try! You can always go back to your previous skincare routine if it does not work for you.

Simple lifestyle changes to get clear and spotless skin naturally-

  • Increase fluid intake. Consume more water and fresh juices.
  • Use satin pillow cover.
  • Make sure you wash your hands before touching your face.
  • Stay away from junk food.
  • Stay away from smoking and drinking.
  • Take proper sleep.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Do regular meditations to keep stress away from you.
  • Throw away all the expired skincare and makeup products.
  • Do not forget to detoxify your body.
  • Use a clean pillow cover and clean towels.
